As a child, Echo was the victim of a toxic insect bite that left her paralyzed from the waste down. However, in Etheria, there is no such thing as a disability. And no one exemplifies this principle better than Echo. From her wheelchair, Echo is the Shadowhunter Communication Center. She is in constant contact with all operatives in the field from her mobile post, and is thus an invaluable member of the organization.

Echo exudes the attitude of a true warrior, and her voice in the ear of any Shadowhunter can provide advice, motivation or reason, whatever the circumstance dictate.
