Unbeknownst to most of the inhabitants of Tohubohu, a tribe of vampire bat New Breeds settled into the dormant volcanoes over twenty-five years ago. These fierce creatures established a monarchy below the Earth's surface and constructed a medieval-like city around the flow of lava rivers. These New Breeds decimated the food supply of their former kingdom and chose their new location because of its vast living resources.

Today, Gargonia is an unknown power hidden beneath the Earth's crust. With virtually no natural predators, they live in one of the most civilized and refined kingdoms in the world of Tohubohu. They were able to hunt for their food -- blood -- at will, mysteriously snatching their victims without leaving a trace. And then it happened: the Vampire New Breeds discovered the unmutated blood of the humans mining in the desert, and fell in love. They unleashed a swift gathering of humans and began to breed them on their own farms. The humans are bled much like cows of the old world were milked.

Industrious reptilian New Breeds learned of Gargonia, and in an attempt to save their own hides and capitalize on the fixed human resources of the vampire New Breeds, established a human slave trade. In return for a constant export of humans to Gargonia, the vampire bat New Breeds have agreed not to feed on the reptile New Breeds in the Black Desert, thus allowing them to continue their mining efforts with little interference.
