Valkyrie was raised on Sheba's Peninsula, the home of feline New Breeds. While life on the Peninsula remains serene, this New Breed became disgusted with the oppression of the reptilian mobs. After watching reptilian tyranny abuse not only humans but also any New Breed unable to fight back, this ferocious feline New Breed decided to join the fight against them. She left the safety of Sheba's Peninsula and pledged her allegiance to Etheria.

Val's fighting prowess made her a prime candidate for entrance to the elite Shadowhunters, and her outspoken beliefs on the equality for all living things makes her an invaluable resource to the Corp.
